Outer Banks Post Cards From The Past

Early Manteo - Part II

While travel to and from Manteo was somewhat restrictive in the early days, once there you could expect to encounter fine horseless carriages...just like anywhere else!

The Trenton delivered the mail.

The Roanoke Sound Bridge was a great convenience in traveling from south Nags Head to Manteo. The authors can also remember when the charter boats along this canal next to the bridge where a favorite for inshore fishing expeditions.

This post card depicting the Manteo Waterfront reminds us of the great changes that have taken place here in recent years.
